The ocean, entirely your own

Here the sea does most of the talking. Days unfold between an overwater villa with its own plunge pool, a sandbank set for lunch with nobody else on it, and slow snorkelling over the reef just beyond your steps. Many resorts are adults-only, and even those that are not spread across their own private island, so seclusion is built in rather than requested. Evenings run to candlelit dinners on jetties, stargazing from a rooftop deck, or a sunset cruise with dolphins for company.

Cliffside calm above a caldera

Santorini works because the drama is built into the landscape: a caldera carved by an ancient eruption, whitewashed villages stacked along its rim, and cave-style suites cut directly into the cliff. Days are unhurried, a private plunge pool with the caldera as backdrop, a catamaran sail to volcanic hot springs, a wine tasting on terraces grown from black volcanic soil. Come evening, dinner is taken on a terrace facing west, timed for the sunset that draws the whole island toward Oia.

Granite islands, barefoot and private

The Seychelles trades the Maldives' uniformity for scenery: granite boulders tumbling into the sea, jungle-covered hills, and beaches that genuinely differ from one island to the next. A stay typically moves across two or three islands by light aircraft or private boat, from a hillside villa with a plunge pool to a beachfront suite metres from the sand. It is quieter and less polished than the Maldives, which is precisely the appeal for couples wanting a more textured Indian Ocean.

The Amalfi Coast is best experienced slowly, from a cliffside suite with its own terrace over the water, ideally with a private pool cut into the rock. How do you choose the right destination for us?

We start with the occasion, the season you are travelling in, and how you actually like to spend a day: beach and stillness, or culture and movement. From there we weigh flight time, climate and the style of stay against what the two of you want from the week.

We want real privacy, not just a nice room. Can you arrange that?

Privacy is our starting point rather than an extra. That can mean an adults-only property, a private pool villa, a resort spread across its own island, or simply a table set apart from other guests each evening. Tell us what privacy means to you and we design around it.

How far ahead should we get in touch for a proposal or a fixed date?

As soon as you have a rough idea of dates. Peak windows, cherry blossom in Kyoto, August in the Mediterranean, the festive season for overwater villas, fill early and reward planning months ahead. For a proposal, tell us early too, so timing and discretion are both handled properly.
